ImPACT Baseline Testing- Concussion Baseline Testing
MYF is excited to offer ImPACT Baseline Testing to all our athletes!
Safety is our number one priority, and as part of our commitment to safety and concussion awareness, we are pleased to offer ImPACT Baseline Testing as part of our annual routine for all our athletes from Cheer to Tackle to Flex Football! MYF will cover the cost of this very valuable Baseline Testing. ImPACT stands for Immediate Post-Concussion Assessment and Cognitive Testing.
The ImPACT Test is two-fold. Before athletes participate in an activity or sport, the baseline test is conducted to measure the athlete’s neurocognitive performance baseline. It is not an academic test, but rather an objective tool used to support trained healthcare providers in making sound “resume to play” decisions following an injury.
In the event of an injury, a post-injury ImPACT test is administered by the athlete’s health care provider and compared to the baseline and/or normative data scores. It gives healthcare providers objective data to evaluate a patient’s post-injury condition and aids in tracking recovery for safe return to activity.
Coaches will contact teams to arrange for the ImPACT Baseline Test to be administered. Although not required to participate, we highly recommend that each and every athlete take part in the Baseline Test. The test is an on-line, user-friendly computer-based testing program specifically designed for the management of sports-related concussion, and takes about 20 - 25 minutes to complete.
All of our Football coaches are certified and trained in the following safety courses:
We always have an EMT at all our games, and at least one fully certified CPR/FIrst Aid coach per team. We take safety, hydration, and physical and mental skill sets very seriously when training our athletes and coaches, and promote safety, family and good sportsmanship above all.
All coaches are required to have extensive training in various fields and topics, as regulated by AYF and CMYFCC . To see a full list of training requirements, please visit the Coaching page.
